Perimenopause can be a period of significant biological and psychiatric change, yet its mental health effects are often underrecognized or misattributed. Patients may present with new or worsening mood symptoms, anxiety, sleep disruption, cognitive complaints, or changes in emotional regulation during this transition.

This virtual workshop provides a practical, clinically relevant overview of the hormonal and neurobiological changes of perimenopause and how they can influence mental health.

Designed for therapists and other non-prescribers, this session will help participants:

  • Recognize common mood, anxiety, sleep, and cognitive symptoms associated with perimenopause

  • Understand how hormonal variability during the menopausal transition can affect psychiatric symptoms

  • Identify patients who may be particularly vulnerable to mood or anxiety symptoms during this stage

  • Avoid common diagnostic pitfalls and misattribution of symptoms

  • Recognize when collaboration with psychiatric, gynecologic, or other medical providers may be helpful

  • Integrate an understanding of reproductive biology into psychotherapy and clinical formulation

This is not a lecture on endocrinology. The goal is to provide a clinically grounded framework for understanding why some patients experience significant changes in mental health during perimenopause and how that understanding can inform your therapeutic approach.

Registration: $60

This workshop is also available as part of the complete three-part Reproductive Mental Health Across the Lifespan series for $155.

Virtual access information will be sent to registered participants by email prior to the workshop.
